Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman F Rahman said the government is creating database for those working as freelancers and hence, they will be able to work independently within a certain norm. “We are trying to enable freelancers so that they can work independently staying at home. As a result, the women population will be able to work at home using computer," he said yesterday while addressing the Diamond Jubilee Festival at Sholla High School and College in Nababganj of Dhaka as the chief guest.
According to him, there is no alternative to information and communication technology (ICT) for Bangladesh to improve in future.
“Our leader and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working tirelessly to materialise her Digital Bangladesh vision,” he said.
Many people had fun listening to the idea of Digital Bangladesh, but the country’s fibre optic cable has reached
around 3500 unions by now – making the internet so accessible today.
Earlier, the lawmaker inaugurated a four-storey building of Sholla High School and College.
"We need to teach our children computer coding right from the stage of primary school so that they can do programming soon after completing the school level," he said.
Disclosing that the prime minister has approved a proposal for an economic zone in Nababganj, Salman said that it would be passed by ECNEC.
He also said this country has reached a new height in terms of women empowerment.
“We’re ranked 48th in the world and even the USA is lagging behind us with its 52nd position.”
Nalini Mohan Ghosh founded Sholla High School and College back in 1945. The Diamond Jubilee Festival of the institution is being celebrated for two days.
